Clearbrook Waterworks is governed by an elected Board of Trustees. The Trustees are dedicated individuals who are committed to the sound oversight and responsible direction of Clearbrook Waterworks District. The Board reviews financial and operational reports from management staff at monthly Board meetings.
The District is operated by a staff that is passionate about the value of water and diligent in the execution of their duties.
John Taves has lived in the Clearbrook district since 1979. He has served on the M E I board for seven years, on several condominium boards and on the Clearbrook Waterworks board since 2000.
Peter Sawatzky has enjoyed award-winning Clearbrook water ever since 1966. After moving into active retirement, he accepted a nomination in 2006 to serve as trustee on the Board of CWD. This is one of several core retirement activities.
Other than that, his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends see to it that there is always enough adventure around to fill every moment. Clearbrook Waterworks has become an integral part of his life.

Gerda has had extensive involvement in the Abbotsford community. She served on the Abbotsford School Board for 23 years as well as on numerous community boards. In 2008 she was chosen the Abbotsford/Mission Woman of the Year. Gerda appreciates Clearbrook's excellent water and everyone who helps it to be recognized as the Best Tasting Municipal Water in the World. She enjoys her grandchildren, travelling, and books.
Paul has been part of the Abbotsford community for over 25 years. He and his family have lived within the improvement district boundaries since 2008 and he joined the Board of Trustees in 2014. Paul is a professional in the financial services industry with over 15 years tenure at a local BC based credit union. His business education and financial services experience is an asset in ensuring the long term sustainability of our water.
Matt joined the Clearbrook Waterworks Board of Trustees in 2016, although he’s been enjoying its water for a decade, having lived in the district since 2006. He is a loving husband and father to 5 beautiful, busy children. He works in Abbotsford as a Realtor, is a member of Northview Community Church, and coaches basketball at MEI with his wife.

Jason moved to the District as a child and has spent the majority of his adult life living in and around Abbotsford. A husband and a father of four, Jason’s free time is spent with family. Coaching football, being ‘dance-dad’ and sports are a few of his favourite things. Jason began his career with CWD in 2008 as a system operator. He shares a passion for water and a love of people with the rest of the staff at CWD.

Danette Haar CPA, CGA BIO
Danette joined Clearbrook Waterworks in 2011and enjoys the work life balance that CWD offers. Danette loves to spend her time with her family while enjoying the great outdoors. With two boys in the early French immersion program Danette and her husband are trying hard to learn some French. C’est difficile…
Kathleen has been living in Abbotsford since 1999 and has been working at Clearbrook Waterworks since 2011. When not manning the front desk, Kathleen loves to spend her free time travelling and painting. Kathleen graduated from the Alberta College of Art in 1980. Her work has been displayed at the Kariton House Gallery and in other group shows.
James has been with Clearbrook Waterworks since 2008 and has lived in the District since 2011. He grew up in Abbotsford, graduating in 2001. James has a young daughter who keeps him on his toes. When he’s not working, James likes to get outdoors where he enjoys hitting the trails on his quad. James truly loves his job and looks forward to many more years with the District.

Ryan has been a fixture here at Clearbrook Waterworks since 2006. He grew up on a chicken farm and spent summers picking raspberries, after which he spent several years as a brick mason's apprentice. Ryan currently lives in the District with his wife and their dog. When he has free time, Ryan enjoys cooking, gardening, camping, slo-pitch baseball, hunting, and telling bad jokes.
Thomas Page Safety Liaison, WDSO II BIO
Thomas was born in Calgary, Alberta and eventually moved to interior BC with his family, including his identical twin. After high school, Thomas was inspired by an instructor at the WTS Waterworks Technology School in Victoria to pursue a career in the waterworks industry. Aside from Thomas’ career, he enjoys swimming, biking and hiking around the Fraser Valley.
Matthew Selinger Summer Labourer BIO
This will be the third consecutive summer that Matthew has come to work for CWD. He is attending Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon on a partial scholarship where he plays baseball. When he is not pitching for his school's team, he is studying and working towards his B.A in International Studies. Matthew enjoys skiing up at Sun Peaks in the winter.
